Air Delivery Specialist

The Air Delivery Specialist will provide expertise and support to the US Marine Corps (USMC) in the field of air and amphibious systems. They will assist the government in various tasks related to air delivery programs, including market research, testing, drafting reports, conducting audits, and providing recommendations for improvements. The specialist will also be responsible for parachute rigging, drafting and updating drawings, reviewing safety assessments, and participating in supportability demonstrations. This position is 100% onsite in the Quantico, Virginia area.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to pass a background investigation.

  • Must be formally trained and qualified on the 2K and 10K Joint Precision Airdrop Systems through US Army or industry equivalent.

  • Must possess and maintain a Federal Aviation Administration approved Master Parachute Rigger Certification / Rating.

  • Must be formally trained and qualified at USMC Multi-Mission Parachutist Course.

  • Must be formally trained and qualified as a PHAOS oxygen technician.

  • Must  maintain medical clearance to participate in military free fall (MFF) operations and testing.

  • Must have a United States Parachuting Association “C” Parachutist License (Minimum Requirement).

  • Must be formally trained and qualified at US Army Airdrop Load Inspector Certification Course or equivalent.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Conducts market research and assessing the potential for integration of new technology into USMC air delivery programs.

  • Coordinates, executes, and drafts summary reports for testing of new air delivery equipment. The Government estimates drafting 4 summary reports per year.

  • Drafts, reviews, and provides recommendations for test plans.

  • Performs parachute rigging in support of test drops. The Government estimates 10 test drops per year.

  • Conducts physical configuration audits on parachute and air delivery systems. The Government estimates 10 physical configuration audits per year.

  • Drafts new and updating existing drawings.

  • Reviews and makes recommendations for safety assessments.

  • Drafts, reviews, and edits engineering change proposals.

  • Investigates and drafts reports on parachute and air delivery equipment malfunctions due to material failures. The Government estimates drafting 4 reports on parachute and air delivery equipment malfunctions per year.

  • Drafts and reviews plans for, provides recommendations for, and participates in supportability demonstrations, validation and verification of technical manuals, and modifying fielded assets.

  • Supports fielding and acceptance of initial issue equipment to the operational forces to include new equipment training and technical support, technical issue resolution with manufactures and development of new equipment technical manuals.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.
