SUMMARY

The Tribal Liaison Specialist provides a specialized level of knowledge related to planning and implementing technical assistance support activities with Tribes and Tribal serving organizations. Identifies opportunities and appropriate communications to engage with Tribes and Tribal serving organizations one-on-one and in large group settings. Plays an important role in the execution of Tribal engagement activities, serving as a primary point of contact with Tribes and Tribal serving organizations throughout the project.

Must be able to obtain and maintain the required customer clearance for access to systems, facilities, equipment and property as needed.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

Serves as point of contact, conducts outreach, manages communications with tribes and tribal serving organizations. Collaborates with project teams to coordinate engagement activities including working groups, listening sessions, and other relevant meetings. Implements liaison and technical assistance framework for continuous communications with the tribes.

Collaborates and builds project teams to attain the project goals within the defined timeframes. Collects and analyzes data and provides updates on project activities. Develops and prepares project work products related to tribal partner related activities. Uses project services and resources, to understand needs, concerns, and ensures tribal perspectives are integrated in project activities.

Serves as a resource for project team members and supports an effective and positive work environment by establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.

Supports implementation of tribal partner representative working group virtual and in-person meetings.

Provides superior customer service and applies effective relationship management skills.

Demonstrates broad conceptual judgment, initiative, and ability to deal with complex issues.

Engages with, supports, and builds relationships with representatives of tribal nations and communities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in a related field of study and a minimum of six (6) years relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education/experience.

Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Regularly required to sit. Regularly required use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms to handle objects, and operate tools, computer, and/or controls. Required to speak and hear. Occasionally required to stand, walk, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.
